See article on Selecting Federal or State Exemptions
As you add personal property to your case, you can add exemptions to each piece of property
Once you have clicked to Add Exemption the exemption options will appear in a searchable menu.
The individual limit amount will show but you can select to Double Limit if you are working on a joint case and it will double the limit. As you add items with the same exemption, the remaining balance will calculate based on how much you have exempted per item.
*Please Note: You may need to check with your district to see if they allow you to double the exemption amount per item when filing a joint case.
When adding Personal Items you can add multiple items per subsection. The view can be expanded to see Total Value, Exempted, Limit and Remaining balances per item.
You may also collapse the view
Joint Schedule C
If your district requires you to file separate Schedule Cs for each debtor, you can select who the property belongs to when adding exemptions
For this example, the exempted amount is $500 and belongs to Debtor 1 and Debtor 2 only. This will generate two separate Schedule Cs. One will be for Debtor 1 and will have an exemption for a Grand Piano in the amount of $250 and the other will be for Debtor 2 and will have an exemption for a Grant Piano in the amount of $250.
If the item only belongs to one of the debtors, the fully exempted amount will be listed on that debtor's Schedule C.
