Subtags are mergeable tags that are related to an original tag. If a Firm-Created Field is designated as a Multiple Entity Option, or Role Option, or if the field contains a Nested Field, you will see the option to add subtags.

In this example, we created a custom field labeled Administrator Name. We then checked Multiple Entity Option- meaning some cases may have more than one administrator.

Once we Save & Close, we can see how this custom field works as a merge tag in our documents. In the Doc Creator Template editor, the available tags appear along the left-hand side. The Administrator Name field that was created now has a plus sign to the right of it. Click on the plus sign icon to show the available subtags.

Here, we see that we can add singular or plural language, depending on the number of administrators entered in the case. To add the language as available tags, drag and drop them under the word, Available. You may also add your own subtags by clicking + Add Sub Tag.

In this example sentence, we can add multiple subtags (shown by the brackets):

"The [Administrator/Administrators] of this case [is/are] [Administrator Name]."

Therefore, we would want to add is/are as a subtag, and create our own for Administrator/Administrators. The sentence would look like this in the editor:

You can make as many subtags as needed for scenarios that might occur throughout your documents. When ready, you can then add the "Administrator" names within the case and generate the document. The document will appear correctly, depending on how many administrator names are entered (one or more).

As shown above, I entered 2 Administrator names. Therefore, the subtags Administrator/Administrators, is/are, and Administrator Name all populated with the correct verbage.
