Question from line 1: What is your marital status and filing status?

Where to enter this in NextChapter: Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status AND Client Profile > Filing Information > Type of Debtor

NextChapter will use the type of case (joint or individual) and the marital status to determine how to answer line 1 of 122A-1.

See below for instructions on how to mark the options on line 1.

To mark Not married go to Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status > Single / Divorced / Widowed

To mark Married and your spouse is filing with you go to Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status > Married AND go to Client Profile > Filing Information > Type of Debtor > Joint

To mark Married and your spouse is NOT filing with you go to Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status > Married OR Separated. Then go to Client Profile > Filing Information > Type of Debtor > Individual.

****If "Married and your spouse is NOT filing with you" is marked, see below for how to mark the additional questions:

To mark Living in the same household and are not legally separated go to Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status > Married

To mark Living separately or are legally separated go to Client Profile > Debtor Profile > Marital Status > Separated
