Manually Editing Information on Your Forms

When you're previewing a form before filing, you may notice a pencil icon next to certain line numbers. This lets you edit that information directly from the preview section.

How it works

  1. Open the form in Preview. Go to the preview screen for the schedule or statement you want to check (for example, the Statement of Financial Affairs, Means Test, or Schedule A/B).

  2. Look for the pencil icon. It appears next to any line entry pulled in from your case.

  3. Click the pencil icon. A pop-up window (a "modal") opens, showing the editable fields for that line.

  4. Make your changes and save. Once you save, the update applies in two places:

    • The information you see on the form, and

    • The underlying case data it came from.

Because the edit updates your case data, the correction will carry through anywhere else that same information appears — not just on the one form you were looking at.

Why some line entries don't have a pencil icon

Not every line number on a form is something you can edit directly. Totals and calculated amounts, like the sum at the bottom of a schedule, or a figure copied from one form into a summary are not editable on their own, because they're generated automatically from other line entries.

Tips

  • If you don't see a pencil icon where you expect one, the value is likely a calculated total, look for the entries that feed into it instead.

  • Edits made this way update your case data, so double-check the change is correct before saving, it will show up anywhere else that information is used.

  • If a figure still looks wrong after editing the source entries, reach out to support so we can take a closer look.
