WRONG ECF CREDENTIALS:
Double check your ECF credentials with the appropriate court's site
*Please note: attorney's often have two separate credentials. One is for bankruptcy and the other is for the regular district filing site. Please ensure you are testing your credentials with the correct site (there will be a B in the district name in the URL).
If the court requires you to reset your login information upon logging in, you will need to update that within NextChapter
If there are any outstanding payments due to the court, please resolve them and try filing again through NextChapter
If none of the above work, please contact the NextChapter Support Team and we will verify your login credentials and ensure that the application is running correctly
ALREADY FILED:
If you receive an alert that "ECF has already been filed" when it has not, please contact the NextChapter Support Team and we will reset your credentials so you may file again
*Please note: this will only work if you actually have not filed with the court. At this time, NextChapter only supports the initial filing.
GENERAL ERROR:
Contact the NextChapter Support Team to have your credentials reset
Once ECF Filing is reset, try again and let the Support Team know right away if you experience issues
The issue will be resolved as quickly as possible
YOUR CASE WAS FILED SUCCESSFULLY WITH EXCEPTIONS:
If you receive this error, the screen will inform you of the exceptions that were not updated.
You may then download those exceptions from the Download & Print section and file manually with the court.
ECF ACCESS DENIED
For this situation, we recommend contacting the court to verify that your ECF account is enabled to file new debtor cases.
Sometimes with a new account, you may need to complete your training with the court. Once completed, you are authorized to file by the court.
It is very likely that some errors will be with the court and not with NextChapter. NextChapter will do everything we can to help resolve the issue but it will be up to the court to assist us in resolving the error. If the case must be filed while you are waiting for a response, you may download the petition from our Download & Print section and file manually.
